the Florals
by Jelicia Lloyd
2019 has started off as a very ambitious year for most designers, who are getting inspiration from the peace and love carefree hippies. The mantra for this season should be "anything floral goes". Designer Julien Dossena's collection for Paco Rabanne has a “new year, new me” vibe to the extreme. Thus bringing to this collection his spin on the “mix and match boheme” look with layers of flowing floral printed fabrics.
The first look above is a $1,650 embellished Floral-Print Satin Maxi Dress, layered over a Floral-Print Cotton-Blend Lurex Midi Dress, $660. If you wanted to create a more toned down casual look for brunch, you could wear these looks separately and style it with a small clutch and tall wooden wedge heel.
Alessandro Michele, Spring/Summer Resort collection for Gucci, stylishly drapes the models in victorian inspired floral tapestry. The vining florals are used as both all over prints and accents on the hems of oversized jackets and kimonos. They are paired with loose fitting trousers giving the look a fresh update. These pieces range from $2,200 for a skirt to $4,500 for a jacket.
To wear this style, head to toe, the accessories will be key. You can style the kimono with a minimalist sandal or slip on shoe. For the ears, a nice dangle gold earring would really bring out the reds and greens in the print. Add a small cross body bag to finish off the look in this trendy spring / summer style.
My favorite collection for the season was that of Dolce & Gabbana. Inspired by their clients' individuality they splashed the runway with bright blooms of flowers. The meaning of which was not lost in translation. Every floral bloom is unique; no two flowers are ever alike. The same goes for fashion's faithful followers.
The featured floral looks range from $995 for the vest to $5,895 for the mini dress with blooming peonies. This style and type of floral print is a must have for the spring and looks sexy and bright when worn head to toe. Bring it all together with a small handbag in a bold pop of color.
Bold all over floral prints inspired by the 1960s have re-emerged on the fashion scene in both women’s and men’s fashion. We’ve seen everything from playful to sexy, mini flowers to exploding florals, and abstract to realistic. This is one trend that will have longevity and is not to be missed. the Aesthetik now has similar prints with bold details available for the spring / summer!
